My Easter Day

This was the best Easter yet. I had a fun day filled with surprises and so much to do. I woke up late on Sunday morning to find that the Easter bunny had brought Grandpa Burl and Grandma Betty to my house. We all sat down and had breakfast, cinnamon rolls with LOTS of frosting and fruit. After breakfast, I decided to read the paper with Grandpa and Daddy, I claimed the comics section first. After reading the most informative section of the paper, I decided to make bunny and chick sugar cookies for dessert. Mommy says I am a great baker.

I was so busy with cookies that I didn't realize that the Easter bunny had dropped off some special things for me, two, yes TWO easter baskets and he left eggs in my yard. I checked out the My Little Pony easter basket stuffed to the brim with goodies like stickers, peeps, jelly beans, chocolate bunnies, playdough, a hatching and growing chick, and a bunny tic tac toe game.

I was very excited to get outside and hunt for those eggs that the bunny left just for me. I bundled up since it was a bit cold, windy, and rainy, grabbed my basket and was off. I had a dozen colored eggs and a dozen plastic eggs to find. Daddy and Mommy say my egg hunting skills are very impressive, I found them all without a lot of assistance. Grandpa and Grandma were also pretty impressed but they think I am the best at everything I do! I had bright pretty eggs and the plastic ones had bunny money, chocolate eggs and bunnies inside.

I helped mommy and grandma make Easter dinner. We had ham, scalloped potatoes, pea salad, rolls and easter egg shaped cakes. After dinner, I watched basketball with Grandpa and got to see my Pooh easter basket from mommy and daddy. It was filled with art supplies, a Wonder Pets book, puzzles, and a toy fire truck that I picked out myself. I had a wonderful Easter and I hope you all did too!!

Good Friday

Hi everyone, hope your Easter preparation is hopping right along. I wanted to stop in and let everyone know what I have been doing the last few days. I have been making many things related to the Easter holiday. I made cotton ball bunnies, chocolate bunnies with chocolate pudding, feathery chicks, cornmeal chicks, and shiny easter eggs! I have been doing various activities with one of my favorites, JELLY BEANS!! I have been sorting, counting, sequencing, and patterning with them. I of course share an occasional bean with my best friend Omar. I think it is funny when his teeth stick all together. I made Jelly Bean Stew this afternoon, boy is it yummy! I will share the recipe since I love you all....

Look at me, blue just like easter peeps!

St. Patrick's Day is over and now it's time to get ready for Easter!! Mom says Easter is very early this year. She has also told me that there is a bunny that will come and I get to do things like cooking and coloring eggs. I have been making tissue paper eggs, puffy paint bunnies, and chicks for art. I have been working with new centers, sound eggs, nesting eggs, color match up eggs, basket to carton, egg sizing and sequencing, and number match eggs. Here are some pictures of me at work, note how I decided to paint myself blue with puffy paint. Mommy was not amused that I was trying to look like one of those little blue marshmallow peeps, but bathtime afterward was lots of fun!

Mommy tells me that today is called St. Patrick's Day. I am going to be a busy girl. I have to remember to wear green, mommy says I might get pinched if I don't. Hmm, I wonder if Daddy remembered his? I will check when I see him tonight. I am going to make green eggs and ham. For snack, mommy says we are going to do one of my favorites....painted toast, green of course!! I am also going to have kiwi, it is after all one of my favorite fruits. For lunch I will have a shamrock shaped tuna sandwich with lettuce and green applesauce. I am so excited because I get to make Leprechaun dust for snack. Here is the recipe mommy gave me.....

Leprechaun Dust:
Instant Pistachio Pudding
Milk
baby food jar
spoon

Place 1 TBSP of Leprechaun Dust (pudding mix) into the baby food jar. Add a 1/4 cup of cold milk to the jar and put lid on tightly. Adding the white milk to the white Leprechaun Dust will make it magically begin to turn green. After lid is tightened on, shake until pudding is green and begins to set up. Enjoy!

At dinnertime, I get green mashed potatoes and get to taste taste green veggies like cucumbers(love them already mommy), green peppers(love them too), cabbage, avocado, and zucchini. I think I might have some dino chicken nuggets also.

I am going to be doing lots of fun activites today too. I get to use green glitter and green paint to make glitter shamrocks. Boy mommy must be brave today, paint and glitter on the same day. I am also going to make filter paper shamrocks and learn about color blending. I get to use blue and yellow food coloring with eyedroppers and see how they mix together. Mommy says it will make green, I am not sure I believe her. I will be doing Lucky Charm sorting for math. I am also going to do a pot of gold game since I am learning to count to 15 now. I have to run for now, I have green eggs and ham to cook, don't forget your green today!

My week........

Mom and I agree this daylight savings time change messes up our schedule. I have been a bit grumpy mom says and I have been taking advantage of the extra hour of darkness in the mornings. I decided to sleep in as late as 10 am and woke up mostly around 9 all week.
On Sunday, I went with Daddy and Mommy to the pet store. I got 5 new fish! They are very fun to watch and make my fish tank much more active. Feeding time for the fish is fun and I like to dump in the food and watch them dive and swim around like crazy to find their snacks. I have been finishing up my Brown Bear, Brown Bear What do you see activities. I can now recite the story with the help of story props, I love my flannel board pieces. I have also been doing some St. Patrick's Day activities. We had a few nice warm days at the beginning of the week. Mom and I spent some time outdoors. I told mommy, " great day mama, sun out birds sing". She wholeheartedly agreed. While we were out exploring, I found this round thing that looked like a bunch of sticks stuck together, mom told me it is called a bird's nest. I had a great time looking at it and examining how the birds built it. I will add some pictures of me in action from the week, enjoy!

Check out my scissor skills!

I have gave my first haircut! I am so proud of my talent, however mom and my puppy Omar aren't sharing in my excitement. I have been working on my cutting skills and using scissors. I was sitting at the table safety scissors in hand and snipping away at paper strips. I like doing an activity where I snip off paper and put the scraps into a box that has a picture of a bird on it with an open mouth. I can put the paper scraps into the bird's mouth(there is a hole also cut into the box) and feed the bird as I snip. So, I am sitting there and mommy and I hear a crash. Mom takes off to investigate and it turns out that two of my pugs Ozzy and Brutus have provided me with a mommy distraction. These are great moments to get into things that normally I wouldn't have a chance to explore. I knew that I had to work fast, mom doesn't stay gone for very long. I got down out of my chair and found Omar beside the table. I looked at my favorite puppy and thought he was looking a bit overgrown and glanced at the scissors in my hand, the light bulb went off! I got to work quickly, a snip here, a snip there, snip, snip everywhere. When mom came back she found Omar and I together on the floor and pug fur beside him, I was grinning ear to ear. She checked to make sure we were both ok, and I was firmly reminded that scissors are for paper not for pug hair or Alyssa hair. I am not sure, but I think she may have hid them from me. Omar has forgiven me and we are friends again, ready for our next adventure. Here is a picture of Omar's haircut, note his puggie hair on the floor and some of us together, he even played dressup with me and wore my shirt.

My Morning Routine

I thought I would share a little about my morning routine since you are not all able to enjoy my presence like mama in the mornings. Since I am now a big three years old, I have decided that big girls do NOT take naps even though mama tried to persuade me otherwise. I now wake up somewhere between 8 and 8:30. Unless of course I need just that little bit of extra beauty sleep. There are also a few occasions where I will knock on my door before 7 a.m. to let mama know I am ready to begin my day. I like to start my day by knocking on my door and making sure mama knows I have woke up by yelling under the door, "Mama Alyssa up, Alyssa open please". She comes and opens my door and I am free to start the day. I like to play a little while before having breakfast and check on my puppies. I absolutely love pancakes and oatmeal for breakfast along with some fruit. I wanted to share how I prepare my pancakes with you. Here I am demonstrating step by step prep of my pancakes:
